Here at Sarasota Marble Restoration we are constantly seeking to improve the services we offer, including offering guidance to our customers to help them maintain their stone.  Below are some frequently asked questions that can provide much needed guidance:

Cleaning Do's & Don'ts

We always advise clients to use PH Neutral Cleaners to clean their naturals stone. If you reach out to us directly, we can provide you with some names of products we use and trust.  Now, cleaning stone will not restore a stone once it has been etched or damaged. So if you are trying to recover the sheen or finish, you will need to have your stone restored in order to recover the shine.

DO NOT USE the following on Stone or Terrazzo/Concrete Surfaces:

- Vinegar

- Ammonia

- Acid or acidic substances (such as cleaners with lemon in them)

- Bleach

- Harsh Chemicals

We can use strong chemicals to treat your stone because we have been trained how to use and neutralize them. Also, we know how to refinish natural stone, so we know how to recover the finish prior completion.  â€‹â€‹

Preventative Maintenance

Aside from using PH Neutral Cleaners to clean your stone or concrete, in between maintenances, there are also other steps you can take to prevent damage to your stone. The following are extra steps you can take:

- Use Floor Mats near all exterior entrances. This prevents sand and particles from grinding against your floors and wearing them down prematurely.

- Make sure your Cleaning Crews use PH Neutral Cleaners on all stone, concrete or terrazzo surfaces, as they sometimes will default to their own cleaning products if you do not specify. [Most of them have no training with cleaning natural stone and we have seen many instances of damage created by cleaning crews that are not knowledgeable about stone.]

- If you have Pets, make sure that they are potty trained and taken out regularly to reduce accidents. Pet urine can be extremely high in ammonia and that can easily etch your natural stone.  [The same is true for throw-up.]
